A Sporty Hybrid? Crazy or Not?

Thanks to eGM Car Tech for the pic of Honda's 2011 CR-Z as shown at the Detriot Auto Show. Honda says it's a sporty hybrid - that sounds like an oxymoron. Either way, here's Translogic's take on the sporty but fuel sipping CR-Z hybrid. Six-speed manual trans doesn't hurt the sport cred that's for sure. http://translogic.aolautos.com/

What do you think, can Honda have it's S2000 cake and daintily sip fuel at the Insight table too?

Electric Cars - It's Nothing New

Electric cars are the future right? Who killed the electric car? Electric cars will get us off of imported oil, right? Probably not. It turns out, the problems with electrics cars have been the same for more than 100 years. A century ago, gues what the range was on a Detroit Electric - yep about 100 miles, just like the Nissan Leaf. Granted the Detroit Electric would only go about 30 miles per hour but that seems like a very minor gain for 100 years of science. Check out this report from AOL's Translogic.

The truth is, gasoline is more efficient. There is no big revolution coming for electric cars, that's been the hope for 100 years and it's time to get over it.
