New 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Revealed


The Silverado 1500 gets a bunch of new tech and a makeover for 2027. Shown is the off-road capable ZR2.

There's a new Chevy Silverado on the way, and Chevrolet is saying some pretty impressive things about it. Here are a few talking points the brand recently shared;

  •  The 2027 Silverado 1500 is the most powerful Silverado ever
  •  There are new engines: a next-generation 5.7-liter and a 6.6-liter V8
  •  Chevrolet says these are the most powerful naturally aspirated engines in their class
  • Silverado will offer an updated  2.7-liter turbo TurboMax 
  • A 3.0-liter Duramax turbo diesel will still be offered
  • The exterior and interior design are all new

These new advanced engines need to have excellent, beyond Toyota, reliability. Without that, the brand is in danger of eroding public trust and more than a century of brand equity. Durability and longevity have been a cornerstone of Chevy trucks for decades. Look at listing sites, a Tahoe or Suburban with the 5.3L V8, even with 200k miles, is still worth something. Silverado, Suburban, and Tahoe need to keep this reputation going.

New ZR2 


The new interior is more modern and connected than before. On ZR2 and High Country, an 11.5-inch front passenger screen comes standard, paired with a head-up display and a rear camera mirror. The interior, including the instrument panel, is now fully digital. 


ZR2 gets significant updates as well. A 2-inch lift, a dedicated off-road hood, standard front and rear e-lockers, and Multimatic DSSV dampers are part of the updated ZR2 features.




Deluxe Silverado 1500 High Country 


The High Country is still at the top of the Silverado experience. It places comfort and luxury alongside full-size pickup capability. 


The High Country includes – 


·      Satin grille

·      Panoramic sunroof

·      Two interior themes – light or dark

·      Real wood trim

·      Available microfiber suede

Work Truck


Purpose-built work trucks are part of the new Silverado 1500 lineup, too. These new work trucks get the updated, next-gen V8s. Interiors are more basic for handling daily work duties; new driver-assist tech and work-oriented connectivity tech help support fleets without additional complexity.


More to Come

At this point, there are not a lot of hard numbers to go along with the photos and talking points regarding the 2027 Silverado. We don't know the horsepower for the new engines, towing capacity, fuel economy, prices, or detailed packages for the new truck. Start of production should be by the end of 2026, which might mean an on-sale date in the spring of 2027. 


Texas Tough


Finally, the Silverado isn't just a popular pickup; it's the most popular pickup in Texas. According to Capital One Auto Navigator proprietary data, the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was the most financed vehicle by Capital One customers in Texas in May 2026. The Silverado 1500 had an average customer sales price of $55,085 in Texas. This stat doesn't include buyers paying with cash. Still, it's a good sign for the new 2027 Silverado as Texas buyers are notoriously fond of trucks.  The Silverado was not only the most financed vehicle in Texas by Capital One customers in May 2026, but it outsold the second-place contender by more than 65%. In fact, both the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are on that list. 

For all of calendar year 2025, Chevrolet vehicles figured prominently among the most financed cars, according to Capital One.

Used cars like this 2016 Toyota Corolla LE are a great choice for a fuel-efficient, affordable car. Updated April 2026 Don't let high gas prices convince you to get a new car just to "save money." Sure, you might save money at the Chevron station, but if that new car results in an $800 per month payment, then how are you actually "saving" money? You're not. If people are serious about using less gas and fewer resources, then just driving something used, like a 10-year-old Toyota Corolla, is great. The prices are incredible. Here are just a few examples: CarGurus - in New Jersey, a 2023 Nissan Leaf with 21,000 miles for $10,000 Capital One Auto Navigator - in Atlanta, a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4Matic Sedan with 46,000 miles - $33,000. This was an $80,000 car when new!!  Cars.com - in Dallas, a 2024 Kia Niro EV with 11,000 miles - $20,000.  All of these cars, and others just like them, will still be under warranty. Mercedes-Benz has a 10-year, 155,000-mile warranty on some EVs. Most electric cars have an 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty on the battery and drive components.
