The Chevrolet Trax is one of 5 Chevy models that top a recent Capital One Auto Navigator list of the most frequently purchased new cars by buyers borrowing money for the purchase. Here's a trend in new car buying – and it's a trend that will continue well into 2026. According to the latest Capital One Auto Navigator data, Chevrolet figures prominently in new car sales for people who are borrowing money for a new car. Capital One is one of the largest automotive lenders and is growing, according to Auto Finance News.   When Capital One customers borrow money to buy a new car, five of the top 10 vehicles are Chevrolet models. The indication is that people are looking for value above all else. Vehicles like the Chevy Trax and Equinox, Nissan Kicks and Sentra, and Kia K4 show that value figures prominently in today's new-car-buying landscape.   Think you can’t get a new car for a low price?  You can - it’s the Chevy Trax.

There’s a cool tech and safety feature that’s often overlooked when it comes to buying a new or used car. On GM vehicles, including most Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMCs sold in North America, the feature is called Teen Driver Mode. They both use the key fob, which you can program so that one is like an admin key and the other is the programmed “copy key.” When you program your teen driver key fob in a GM vehicle like the Chevy Traverse, Chevy Trax, or Buick Envista, it does these things: Limits the vehicle's top speed to 85 mph.  Disables the radio, including connected devices, until the front seatbelts are buckled.  Automatically turns on the headlights when you shift out of park, no matter what time of day it is. There seems to be some confusion about the Chevy Volt - here are a few facts: The Chevrolet Volt uses a gas engine to make electricity when the batteries run down. The 1.4-liter gasoline engine never powers the wheels. (Uh-oh, this turned out not to be true). Chevy suggests premium fuel, but it will work on regular unleaded. Fully charged, the range is 40 miles total - that's 20 miles each way. While driving, the gasoline-powered generator kicks on automatically, but you really can't feel it. The gas engine can charge the batteries and store some electricity. In "Mountain Mode," the car's gas engine can run and will put a little power back in the batteries. The retail price is $41,000 - some people will qualify for an IRS tax credit, not cash back. The Volt will not qualify for HOV status in California. The Chevrolet Volt is built in the US, including most of the battery pack. Chevrolet will warranty the batteries for 8 years or 100,000 miles. -Brian Moody
