2027 Kia Telluride - Kia Georgia Manufacturing

Kia has built 5 million vehicles in West Point, Georgia. This 2027 Telluride hybrid represents that achievement

The 2027 Kia Telluride is now making its way to dealerships and customers. This very successful SUV has been built at Kia’s West Point, Georgia, facility since its introduction in 2019. The new Telluride is a completely new SUV and is now available as a hybrid. The Georgia plant also builds the EV6, EV9, Sorento, and Sportage. At one point, the Kia K5 was built in Georgia as well.

Electric cars like this Kia EV6 are also built at the Kia Assembly Plant in West Point, GA

Changing Times

Stuart Countess serves as President and CEO at Kia Georgia Manufacturing, a vital player in the American automotive landscape. Since 2009, the plant has rolled out vehicles, steadily building its reputation and workforce. I toured the facility in 2009 and in March of 2026. It’s an impressive operation. Kia and the State of Georgia also utilize a training facility near the Kia factory, part of Georgia’s Quick Start program. The facility provides training for the Kia assembly plant and is part of a state-funded incentive package that brought Kia to Georgia in the first place.

Quick Start is part of Georgia’s Technical College System.

Much has changed since 2009; now Kia has several all-electric vehicles, and the popularity of some Kia vehicles has grown significantly.

Here are some quick stats about the Kia facility:

  • Electric Shift: Electric-only vehicle production once made up 15% of business. That share has since dropped “significantly,” reflecting changing market demands.
  • Jobs: The facility employs about 3,200 people, supporting the local economy and manufacturing sector.
  • Production: Gas and hybrid Telluride models come off the same line, with different components installed depending on the version.
  • Capacity: The plant can produce up to 350,000 vehicles a year.
  • Quality: Weld detection and advanced camera systems help ensure each vehicle meets high standards. There’s also a dynamic test track and other on-site quality control stations.
  • 5 Million Vehicles: Kia recently celebrated the 5 millionth vehicle to roll off the Kia Georgia assembly line

Looking to buy a new Kia Telluride? You’re not alone. All Tellurides are built in the U.S. at Georgia’s manufacturing facility in West Point.
